Seagrass Beach is just 1 hour from Beaumont and 1.5 hours from Houston.
From Houston or Beaumont, take Interstate 10 to Winnie, then south on Highway 124 for approximately 20 miles until you reach Highway 87, then go west for approximately 11 miles. Seagrass Beach will be on your left.
From the southern part of Houston or Galveston area, Seagrass Beach is accessible via the Galveston-Port Bolivar ferry that is provided by the Texas Department of Transportation free of charge. The ferry ride is a scenic 2.7 mile boat ride that takes approximately 15-20 minutes. While riding the ferry, you will see many dolphins, pelicans, sea gulls, and other marine life at play in the harbor. Once you exit the ferry, go east on Highway 87 for approximately 16 miles. Seagrass Beach will be on your right just after you pass through Crystal Beach.
If you are driving in from the Houston area, you have two options: 1) Go south on Interstate 45 to Galveston, or 2) Travel east on Interstate 10 to Winnie. If you have concern about waiting in the ferry line on a busy weekend, we recommend taking Interstate 10 to Winnie. It's not quite as scenic as the ferry ride, but it's a dependable route that is about the same distance.
